One of my teachers shared the deep grief of visiting the neighborhood where he grew up and finding no sign of kid trails going into the woods. My career has been dedicated to the welfare of children, and right now they need outside time more than ever. I have made it my personal mission to get kids off screens and back in the streets, looking for mysteries to solve, building forts, and playing hide and seek among the trees.
LOCAL
Many children are over scheduled and often participate in activities away from the home. Combine the slowness and comfort of home with a facilitated learning day getting to know our neighborhood.
connection
School is often so rushed there isn’t time for kids to truly connect to the subject matter. Project-based learning lets the child decide where they want things to go, and we can delve as deep and for as long as they’d like.
Mentoring
Different than teaching… more personal AND personalized. Deep connection made over a longer time period with more investment in care long term.
Care Plan Rates
Bunnies
$25/ hour
6 hour minimum, 8 hours preferred
– outside time daily
-developmentally appropriate, child-led play
Birdies
$30 / hour
5 hour minimum, 7+ hours preferred
– hand written care report daily including categories like plants, animals, hazards, neighborhood news, etc
-some planned activities offered and outside materials shared
Berries
$35 / hour
4 hour minimum, 6+ hours preferred
– individual learning plan co-created with parents
-with categories of the healthy child, multiple intelligences,
– hands on nature materials brought weekly like skulls, furs, field guides, puppets, feathers, etc
